I57 Widening Project – Posen, IL
Judlau Contracting contacted CPE starting in April of 2021 with performance issues on their aged and neglected 2007 Allen 6036 BDF. After months of frustration with the unit, they had to make a decision. Should they scrap the paver and buy a new one or keep wasting time and effort into it on-site with faint hopes that it would eventually get corrected? After consulting with the trained team at CPE, it was determined that the unit could be salvaged after all, and CPE was awarded the opportunity to give this paver a second life. The machine was shipped to the new CPE repair facility, where it went through a complete overhaul by the OEM-certified, industry-best repair team. Not a bolt was left untouched. Every critical component on the unit was either refurbished or replaced, including the “infamous mouse trap shifter” (You BDF guys out there know which one I’m talking about) with the newly redesigned split circuit shifter from Allen Engineering. More than sixty hours went into this total refurbish, followed by hours of test and tune, and a complete 115-point quality inspection. Sound like a lot? CPE performed these extensive repairs for less than half the price of a new unit, finished the project well in advance of the pour date, and threw in on-site setup and training! The unit performed like a new machine, making a 500+ yard pour short work in harsh conditions. The job superintendent expressed with excitement, “This machine has never performed this well. You just made my life a lot easier!”
